Performer and teacher exploring a passion for traveling and using music as a means of closing the distance between people of different backgrounds.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Andrea began playing piano at age 7 and bass at age 10. She recently completed a Master of Music at Yale University under the tutelage of Don Palma, and in 2013 she completed her Bachelor of Music at Oberlin Conservatory where she studied primarily with Thomas Sperl but also had the pleasure of working with Scott Dixon, Peter Dominguez, and Scott Haigh. Growing up, Andrea studied with Colin O'Bryan.

In addition to performing, Andrea enjoys teaching and taking part in musical outreach programs. She frequently volunteers with the MusAid Organization, most recently coordinating and teaching in workshops in Belize City, San Salvador and New Haven. This past summer, she was on faculty at Peabody Bass Works, and throughout her graduate studies she was a teaching artist in Yale's Music in Schools program where she worked regularly with New Haven Public School students and taught string students at the Morse Summer Music Academy. She also taught several Yale undergraduate bass students. Andrea's interest in traveling and teaching music as a means of inspiring social growth was sparked in 2012-2013 when she participated in the Youth Orchestra of the America's Global Leaders Program during which she travelled twice to Puebla, Mexico to teach students in the El Sistema-inspired program Esperanza Azteca. Outside of her musical endeavors Andrea enjoys cooking, running, and waterskiing.
Please check out MusAid to learn more about this awesome organization that helps music schools around the world by providing instrument donations, teacher training, and instrument repair!
